I previously had a fantastic career as a General Manager of Live Music Venues (O2 Academy, HMV Institute, Gatecrasher Birmingham to name a few).  However these roles were not roles for someone with a young family, the hours alone precluded any kind of home life!

So in 2010 I left the late night scene and took a Job for a year as a Commercial and IT manager for an apprentice training company based in Birmingham, UK.  During this period I was exposed to the world of IT and i instantly fell in love with it.  I spent the year completing Microsoft Training and Certification, desktop and server.

Following the finish of the year’s contract I got a job with Aston Martin Lagonda as a Helpdesk Technician, this was my first true IT role.

It was whilst working at AML during a time of change throughout the IT department that I was introduced to  SCCM – 2007.  During this period, I started to work with SCCM 2012 beta in my own lab environment.  I instantly found it to be something that came easily to me.  With the support of a fantastic manager who allowed me the freedom to train and develop my skills, I became responsible along with our other blog contributor Simon, for the design and deployment of the SCCM 2012 into production.

My career formulated nicely as I went from Helpdesk to Desktop Support Specialist.  I am now working with System Centre 2012 Service Manager and Orchestrator to further automate the IT systems.

The intention of this blog is to help people to understand the daily tasks that is required of an SCCM/ConfigMgr administrator.  We will also add Service Manager and Orchestrator to the blog as well.  12 months ago I started on this project and I hope you find my experiences useful!

Since starting this blog some 4 years ago, I have now moved into IT Governance  where I am now an IT Governance Lead.
